Day 1: Introduction - Basic Molecular Biology Protocols and Use of Biological Databases: Basic concepts related to DNA, RNA and proteins, need of biological databases, differnt types of databases, accession numbers/identifier, nucleotide sequence database, protein sequence databases, sequence motif databases, and other relevant databases.

Day 2: Phylogenetic Analysis of 16S rRNA Gene Sequences; Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and RT-PCR: Basic principles of PCR and RT-PCR, primer design and tools and technology regarding amplification.

Day 3: Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification: Introduction to Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP), principle, characteristics, methodolgy, designing of LAMP primers and different detection mathods.

Day 4: Microarrays and Gene Chip: Basics of Microarray technolgy, high density and low cost microarrays for gene expression  and genotyping, primer/probe design for microarrays, experimental design for microarray studies and data analysis protocol and statistical analysis  tools for microarrays.

Day 5: Nucleotide and Protein Sequence Analyses: Homology, Clustering, Alignment, etc. using DNAStar.

Day 6: Functional Gene Analysis:Fundamentals of Fungene, application of Functional gene analysis in microbology, plant pathology, food production, bioenergy production, human health and drug discovery. Massively Parallel Sequencing (454 Pyrosequencing, Illumina/Solexa): Introduction to 454 pyrosequencing, process overview, strength and application of 454 pyrosequencing.

Day 7: Microfluidic System for Healthcare, Drinking Water and Food Safety; Drug Screening Tools for the Healthcare Industry: Microfluidic-based diagnostic test, its quantitation, cost,speed, sensitivity, sample throughput, target multiplexing screening and lab-on-a-USB key.

Day 8: Nanotechnology: Nanotechnology and nanoparticle based diagnostics.

Day 9: DNA Extraction and Gel Electrophoresis: Agarose gel electrophoresis and wet lab exercises

Day 10: PCR Laboratory Exercise: Demonstration of PCR assay and wet lab exercises.

Day 11: Comparative Genomics Microarray Lab and 454 Pyrosequencing: DNA quality using Nanodrop, probe labeling, sample clean up, array hybridization, array washing, array scanning.

Day 12: Low Cost Diagnostic Tools: Design of Rs 1,000 PCR Machine,an overview of diferent laboratory skills.
